Luay Abdul-Ilah is an Iraqi fiction writer, translator, essayist and Arabic lecturer who has resided in London since 1985. He has published three collections of short stories, a novel and written for Arabic newspapers and magazines including Al-Hayat and Azzaman. He has worked as a full-time translator for Asharqalawsat newspaper and has been a visiting lecturer in Arabic at the SOAS Language Centre and University of Westminster since 1999.

Using the theme of fall and exile he narrates in Comedy of Divine Love the story of several Iraqis who come of age in the difficult 1950s.
